George passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 4th at the Martinez VA Facility, after a 17 year battle with Parkinson’s disease. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Rose. He was a wonderful and devoted father to his two daughters, Janet (Rod) Stanford and Julie (Kevin) Donoghue. George will forever be in the hearts of his grandchildren: Deanna, Michael, Frank, Margot, Troy, James and Matthew as well as his two great grandchildren: Kylie and Ana Rose. George will be remembered most for his unconditional love, witty sense of humor, extraordinary dedication to his family, and unmatched giving spirit.
The family wishes to acknowledge Dr. Ingrid Kwee and the staff of the VA facility for the care, kindness, and dignity provided to him in his final days.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday May 11th at 1:00 pm at St. Jerome’s Church- 308 Carmel Avenue in El Cerrito. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any Parkinson’s Disease Research Center or the VA Facility in Martinez, CA.
