I can't believe Geoff is gone.
I wish his family (real and adopted) good things and comfort.
Will someone call me and let me know how he passed? My number is 201-580-8851. Call anytime.
Geoff and I went back to the 70's. It was a Sunday and I needed to go somewhere but something serious wasn't working. (maybe brakes?) I found "Last Resort" in the classifieds of the local free paper. He told me he couldn't come over and fix it because he was babysitting his infant son... but he said if I had a phone cord that reached out to the garage, he could walk me through doing the repair myself on the phone. It took us about 2 hours, but in the end I could drive the car to wherever I was going as long as I promised to bring it to a mechanic the next day and not keep driving till my brakes failed again!!
So that's how we started, and he was the only mechanic I ever heard of who would come over with a tray of fully cooked piping hot lasagna when I was too sick with the flu to get out of bed to go shopping!!
The most intelligent, generous, sweet guy the world has ever known!!!
He loved to discuss the endless possibilities of what could be the problem with my various older cars by email after I moved back East. When I left CA I had to really think it through because I didn't want to leave Geoff!!!!!
And our love-lives! OMG! We compared notes endlessly on who had the worst disaster going on until recently when he became a happy man!!
He will be deeply missed, by me and by many, many others who loved him so very much!!!
