Fructuosa Salva Thompson's Obituary
You may know our Mom as “Rosa”, “Rose”, or “Rosie”, but she was born Fructosa Salva on August 4th, 1930, in Bato Leyte, Philippines. She met our father, Benny Tica Bautista, through her uncle, Eugene Sales. They arrived in the Bay Area in 1963. After she and our father divorced, Mom worked as a waitress at the Lakehurst Senior Home during the mornings and evenings as well as a food service worker for the Oakland Unified School District during the afternoon. Her hard work and perseverance allowed us to attend Catholic schools. On April 16th, 1988, she married Steve Roger Thompson and moved to Alameda, California. She is survived by her children: Philip and Lisa Bautista. Grandchildren Monique N. Sombilon, Candice S. Bautista, Tera Bautista, Brianna Bautista, and Phillip Benito Bautista; and great-grandchild Andrew Sombilon. She loved to cook, take care of her grandchildren, and arrange garage sales. She was a valued member of the Filipino Women’s Club of the East Bay and the Tanay Club. However, her No.1 passion was dancing. Her family and friends will remember her for the person she was: sincere, humble, friendly, a dancer who was full of life.Chapel of the ChimesOakland(510) 654-0123"Services of Marked Distinction"
