Frederick Arthur Morgan's Obituary
Frederick A. Morgan- Died October 16 from acute leukemia. He was 78. Born in Joplin, Missouri, he earned his BA from Yale University (1947), after interrupting his studies to serve in the Army Air Force during World War II. He received his JD from the University of Chicago Law School (1950) and practiced law in Oregon and California for the next 53 years, specializing in labor litigation. After retiring as a senior partner at the firm of Bronson, Bronson, and McKinnon in San Francisco in 1988, he continued to represent many of his long term clients and became increasingly devoted to pro bono work. He also served in the Air Force reserves as a JAG officer until 1986, earning the rank of lt. colonel. He was a board member of numerous non-profits and a dedicated blood donor, who gave more than 23 gallons of blood over the course of his life. Mr. Morgan will be remembered as a classical music devotee, a raucous soccer fan, a quick witted jokester, a beloved friend to many, and above all else, an adoring father and husband. He is survived by his devoted wife of 29 years, Beverly, their daughters, Mary and Elizabeth, his sister, Mary George, and nieces and nephews, Heather, Mimi, Annie, Ted, and their families. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 22, at 6 p.m., at St. Clement's Episcopal Church, 2837 Claremont Blvd., in Berkeley. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Fred Morgan are welcome to the Jr. Bach Festival Association, P.O. Box 590, Berkeley, CA, 94701, or to a charity of your choice.
