Frederick C. Bilton
May 24, 1956 – June 21, 2022
Frederick C. Bilton, affectionately known as Fred, was born May 24, 1956, in Oakland, California to Sam and Arquilla Johnson Bilton. In 1959 Fred attended Damascus Baptist Church with his family under Pastor James S. Smith. In 1967 Damascus Baptist Church merged with Williams Chapel Baptist Church also under the leadership of Pastor James S. Smith. In 1968 Fred was baptized. He continued his Christian walk under Pastor H.L. Hudson and his current Pastor Kenneth Anderson. While serving under Pastor Kenneth Anderson, he sang in the choir, served as chairman of the deacon board until his illness prevented from him from doing so. Fred loved his church and serving them and willing to serve wherever he was needed. He was also a member of the Bay Area Brotherhood Choir. Fred grew up in Oakland and attended local schools. He enjoyed traveling, especially his trips to Mexico and Hawaii. He loved sports, basketball, football, and dominoes. Fred is preceded in death by his parents, Sam, and Arquilla Bilton, his two brothers Arthur and Carl and his sister, Emily Bilton, and his childhood friend Willie “Bill” Smith. Leaving to cherish his memory is his close friend and companion Pamela Peters. His sister Rasheda Gaines of Stockton; and his dearest childhood friends, Rev. Brad George of Oakland, and Calvin Wheeler of Antioch, the Williams Chapel Baptist Church family, especially the Brotherhood that he loved so much. Fred will also be remembered fondly by Chandra Smith of Oakland, Ollie Jean Smith-Bailey of San Antonio, Texas, his Godsons Jarryd Smith, of Georgia and Jordan Smith (LaTrice) of Princeton, Texas, and the Smith family of Stockton, California, and a host of other dear friends.
