Frances Loui Chan's Obituary
Mrs. Frances Loui Chan, of Oakland, California, born on January 7, 1927 in Honolulu, Hawaii, to the late Alicia Wong and the late Heong Poo Loui, passed away at age 91 on July 8, 2018 in San Francisco, California. A graduate of Roosevelt High School in Honolulu, Frances had an extensive career in the travel industry before opening her own successful travel agency, Lakeshore Travel in 1977 in Oakland. Frances was the loving wife of the late Edwin H. Chan for 63 years. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Fred Loui, Henry Loui, Wallace Loui, and Herbert Loui; and sister, Leatrice Chock. Frances is survived by her son, Burgess Chan, his wife Peggy and their children Jessica, Spencer and Bradley; daughter, Barbara Chan Fiorentino, her husband Michael and daughter Sydney; and daughter, Judy Chan Farmer, her husband Ken and their daughter Caitlin. Frances loved Hawaiian music, eating, cooking, traveling the world, and making new friends. She enjoyed watching cooking shows and had a large collection of cookbooks. Donations in Frances’s name to California Scottish Rite Foundation Oakland Clinic, 1547 Lakeside Dr., Oakland, CA 94612 and San Francisco Chinatown YMCA, 855 Sacramento St., San Francisco, CA 94108 are welcome and appreciated.
