Flora Allan Larson's Obituary
Died peacefully on February 16, 2018 at her home in Alameda, California. She was 86 years of age.
Flora was born in Graniteville, Iron County, Missouri, daughter of Isabelle Brown Allan and Alexander Shand Allan, on August 31, 1931. She is a graduate of Ironton High School, Home Coming Queen, Class of 1949. Three weeks after graduation, Flora moved to California to be with her two older sisters. She took a job at the VA Hospital in Oakland, where she met Lawrence (Larry) Larson. They later married, and raised two children, Christy and John. During this time she began a 34 year career as a medical secretary and receptionist for Dr. Robert Weyand, MD.
Flora was a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star, Ironton Chapter #349. She was an active member of Piedmont Community Church, and enjoyed her years as a docent of the Alameda Museum. She and her husband Larry enjoyed travel abroad, and throughout the U.S. Flora was a devoted mother, talented baker, gardener, and an avid reader. She had a passion for dogs. She had many friends throughout her life, and was a gracious, wonderful hostess, for both her family, and her friends.
Flora was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Larry, in 2015, as well as her brothers Norman Allan, Alexander Allan and sisters Jean Allan, Margaret Windmoeller (of San Antonio, TX), May Jaenecke (of Paradise CA), and Isabelle Addleman (of Piedmont, CA).
She is survived by her brother James Allan, (of W. Branson, MO); her daughter Christy Larson Guidici (Wayne) of Piedmont CA, and her son, John Allan Larson (Karen) of Oakland, CA; grandchildren Alexander Guidici, Angela Guidici, Axel Larson, and Erika Larson.
The family is grateful to kaiser Permanente Hospice, for their attentive care, and a special thank you to Dr. Ted Tsukayama for his guidance and compassionate support over the years.
A private ceremony will be held in Flora’s memory at a later date.
