Faye Grace Damon Wilson's Obituary
Faye Grace was born March 17th, 1932 in Bryan, Texas to Johnnie King and Johnette King. Faye grew up in Bryan, Texas, attended Kemp High School, and completed some college at Prairie View A & M University. In 1951, she moved to California where she resided until her death.
In 1953, Faye married Whitney Damon and to this union two children, Carolyn Damon Bayonne and Rosalind Gayle Damon Walton, were born. In 1963, Faye married Walter Wilson and to this union two daughters, Tanya Wilson and Sonya Wilson Griffin, were born.
Faye was employed with the United States Post Office, later with the Hunter’s Point Shipyard, and retired from the Department of Education in 1989.
Upon retirement, Faye spent most of her time shopping, sewing, baking, gardening, and playing the slots at many casinos near and far. Faye was known for being an amazing seamstress; making many of the outfits she and her girls wore. Faye taught herself to quilt. Many family and friends have been the recipients of the beautiful wall hanging, quilts, placemats, and potholders she loving crafted. Along with sewing, Faye was an excellent baker, and would often give baked goods to many as tokens of her appreciation. She loved gardening and could plant and grow almost anything. Prior to her illness, you could run into Faye at a fabric store, Cache Creek, Costco, or Home Depot.
Faye was a devoted grandmother. Her grandchildren meant everything to her, and there was nothing she would not do for them. She spent countless hours making quilts, baking cookies, or traveling throughout the country to show up for their various events. A conversation with Faye always included an update on the happenings of her grandchildren.
On January 8, 2015 Faye entered into eternal rest after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, three older siblings Irene Wade Jackson, Kathryn Wade Herndon, and Johnnie Wade; both husbands, Whitney Damon, and Walter Wilson; and daughter, Rosalind Gayle Walton. She leaves to cherish her memory, two sisters, Carolynne Jean Marshall (Bentley) and Ann King; daughters, Carolyn Damon Bayonne (Jeffrey), Tanya Wilson, and Sonya Wilson Griffin; five grandchildren, Monique Walton (Stephanie), Cymone Damon, Jerrell, Lailah, and Jaden Griffin; two son-in-laws, Leo Walton Jr., and Richard Griffin and a host of other relatives and friends.
