Genevieve Fay Buckmaster's Obituary
Genevieve was born on January 1, 1920, and passed away peacefully on December 8, 2011. She was born in Brewster, Minnesota, to Naomi and Chester Marsh and was the first baby of the New Year in Brewster. She moved with her family to California in 1944 and lived in Oakland until 2007. Then she and her sister Lucille moved into assisted living at the Carlton Plaza in San Jose. Genevieve was married in Lawton, Oklahoma in 1944 to James Buckmaster who was stationed in that city during World War II; they were married for 53 years until James' passing in 1997. Genevieve loved to sing and dance, she and her 3 sisters would always sing at family gatherings calling themselves the Marshmellows and accompanied by her father on harmonica and their husbands singing base as their backup singers.She was adored by all her Nieces and Nephews. Genevieve retired in 1974 as a grocery store checker after 30 years of employment. After James' passing, she and Lucille traveled to China, Europe and U.S. destinations. She is survived by her sisters and brother-in-laws: Lucille Markus, Eileen Wagner (Ivan Jr.), Coleen Bravin (Sergio); Nephews and their spouses Gary Wagner (Barbara), Ivan Wagner III (Randy), Steven Wagner (Kathy), Steven Bravin (Jacky); Niece and spouse Janet Murray (Tom). She is also survived by Cousins Darlene Hancock, Patty Strump, Sue Gonzales (Richard) and additional cousins in the Midwest. She is also survived by 12 Great Nieces and Nephews and 13 Great Great Nieces and Nephews.
