Dr. Evelyn D. Swanson 06/08/1942 – 09/13/2002 Dr. Evelyn D. Swanson, 60, passed away September 13,2002 at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Oakland, Ca. Mrs. Swanson was born in Ashdown, AK and moved to Oakland in 1943. She spent most of her life residing in Oakland with her husband and family. She moved to Tracy, Ca in 1998. Mrs. Swanson became a member of Christian Cathedral Church in 1953 and remained a faithful Christian member dedicating her life to the Lord and His work. She graduated from Patten Academy of Christian Education in 1960 and went on to graduate from Patten Bible College. She continued her education at California State Hayward where she received a Bachelor of Arts and a Teaching Credential. While teaching at Patten Academy, she continued her studies at the University of San Francisco and graduated with a Master of Arts in Education and a Supervisional Teaching Credential. Evelyn later received a Doctorate from Patten College. Mrs. Swanson worked in the Patten Academy for 32 years. Starting out as a teacher and later became the Principal; she retained that position until the Lord called her home. Mrs. Evelyn Swanson is survived by her husband, Richard D. Swanson of Tracy; her son, Jason R. Swanson of Tracy; her daughter, Jennifer E. Bernard ofFelton, Ca; her mother ldell Galovich and sister Shirley Cozette Strada of Orland, Ca; and her half-brother Ferrell Fenton. She will be laid to rest at Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland, Ca.
