Etta Jene Jacko's Obituary
There were times you worked 2 jobs to put food on the table. You graduated from high school in 1949 in Palestine Texas and went to California looking for better opportunities. You graduated from San Francisco State College with a degree in social studies in 1953 and began working as a social worker for Alameda County California until you retired. Afterwards, you began a successful janitorial service business and retired in 2008 with a combined total of 55 years of service. Your investments and financial planning revealed extraordinary insight, business savvy, and wisdom very few of us possess. Your strength of character, bravery, independence, and determination enabled you to overcome sexual and racial discrimination in a male dominated culture. You were a beacon of light during a very dark period in the history of our country. Your knowledge, skills, determination and work ethics enabled you to achieve your lifetime goal of financial independence. You represent the kind of American that made this country great. Without a doubt, you are an amazing black woman whom we have grown to love and respect. - Sam & Wilma Davis 7-16-2022
