Etsuko "Yoko" Tamayose Goto's Obituary
Etsuko “Yoko” Tamayose Goto, 86, passed peacefully to be with her husband, her family, and her friends in Heaven on July 28, 2021. She grew up on Okinawa and was preceded in death by her husband (Richard) in 1989. She is survived by her two sons, Michio and Robert, her daughter-in-law Sophia, and her siblings in CA, Hawaii, Okinawa, and Japan.
Mom loved to sing Okinawan and Japanese songs as well as watch Japanese programs. She loved to talk stories and had amazing detail to events in her youth. She also loved to cook Okinawan meals and host large parties in her San Lorenzo home… both for her friends, as well as all of the young Okinawan “transplants” living in the area during the 1970’s and 1980’s. Her Thanksgiving and New Year’s meals filled many young bellies and their hearts with Okinawan hospitality.
We will miss her in how she has impacted our lives…
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to the Northern CA Okinawa Kenjin Kai (re: Shuri Castle Fire Recovery) or your favorite local Food Bank charity.
