Ethel Mae Boyd
November 22, 1938- June 13, 2013
Ethel Mae Boyd, 74, of Escalon passed away peacefully in her sleep following a short illness in the caring hands of her husband, John, to whom she was married for 56 years.
Ethel was born on November 22, 1938, in Springfield, Ohio, and was the second eldest child of Thomas and Frances Williams. Born into a military family, Ethel lived in various military locations growing up, the last of which was Germany where she met and married her husband John. After their marriage they moved to San Leandro, were they lived for over 30 years and raised three boys before moving to the Cold Springs area and then finally to Escalon.
Ethel enjoyed skiing for many years at Dodge Ridge. She loved the mountains, gardening, puzzles, reading and a good glass of wine. She loved having a good time, laughing and enjoyed many fun times with her family and friends in the Escapees, Golden Gate, Chapter 1 and Mother Lode Chapter 38 RV Clubs.
In addition to her husband John, she is survived by her sons, David (Marianne), Steven (Shirley), her 7 grandchildren and one expectant great grandchild. She is also survived by her sister, Marie Johnson (Carroll), her brother Bill Williams (Maria) of Baltimore, many nieces, nephews and her beloved dog, Sadie.
She was preceded in death be her youngest son Michael who passed away on December 5th, 2012, her parents, and her younger sister Betty.
The family wishes to thank the caregivers of Community Hospice, for the love, care, compassion and dignity that they showed Ethel in the final days of her journey in life. They are a special kind of people and for this we are truly grateful.
Funeral arrangements are private and the family asks that in lieu of flowers a donation may be made in Ethel’s name to Community Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto, Ca., 95356 or to your favorite charity .
