Ernest M. Ballard 1923-2002 Passed away on Monday, March 11, 2002. He was 78 years old.Ernest was born in Oakland, California and lived in Castro Valley for 52 years. He retired in 1983 from Pacific Bell after 38 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War serving in the Navy as a Communications Specialist.He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Matilda Ballard of Castro Valley; daughters Karen Loyd, Janice Ballard, Sandra Keding and son Randall Ballard; seven grandsons, Steven Loyd, Kreg Keding, Reggie Keding, Bryan Keding, Scott Loyd, Jeff Ballard and Daniel Ballard; granddaughter Stacey Loyd; great-grandson, Nicholas Loyd; great-granddaughter Sarah Loyd; son-in law Steven Loyd; daughter-in law Tracie Ballard; sister Ruth Sutter and brothers Slim and Elwood Ballard.Family and friends are invited to a memorial service to be held on Friday, March 15th, 2002, at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward, California, 32992 Mission Blvd. (510) 538-3131.
