Erich Franz Hoff's Obituary
Erich Franz Hoff, 84, of El Sobrante, CA passed away 13 September 2019.
Erich was born in Berlin, Germany on 10 September 1935. While young, Erich enrolled in a four-year European Model Apprenticeship Program in Berlin to become an Elevator & Escalator Mechanic.
Erich migrated from Germany to Canada before moving to Los Angeles, and finally settling in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Erich was employed in his profession of Elevator & Escalator Mechanic with The Bay Area Rapid Transit.
Erich was partnered to Randahl J. Teixeira Ramos on 29 July 1977. They were together for 42 years.
Erich was the consummate craftsman. He took pride in any project he undertook, whether Electrical, Mechanical, Gardening, or Home Maintenance. He was meticulous and precise in all he did.
Erich loved to travel and visited many, many parts of the world. He was an adventurer, and was always ready for the next journey. Erich was particularly fond of warm, tropical climates, whether in Southeast Asia, the Caribbean, Hawaii, or closer to home in Baja California, or Mexico. He loved to walk in the warm sand, and breathe the fragrant, tropical air. Erich enjoyed discovering the flora and fauna of each special place he visited.
Erich was kind. He was charming. He was generous. Erich was a loyal friend to all who knew him… He was passionate about animals and animal welfare. He loved his Basenji rescue dog named Axel, after a childhood friend. The two of them were inseparable.
Erich is survived by his partner Randahl J. Teixeira Ramos of El Sobrante, CA, and their loving family of friends. He is also survived by a nephew of Berlin, Germany.
