Elliott Robert Jones' Obituary
Elliott Robert Jones was born on June 1, 1984 in Oakland, CA, the only child of Janine (Jones) Terry. Elliott, affectionately known as the “Gentle Giant”, un-expectedly departed this life on October 5, 2017 at Highland Hospital, Oakland, CA. In February of this year Elliott enjoyed one of the happiest moments of his life when he was joined together in marriage with his sweetheart Deja Caprice Hawkins. Elliott and Deja shared a very special bond during their brief 8-month marriage.
Elliott was a considerate, loving and kind young man who truly cared about other people. He especially enjoyed spending time visiting and helping his grandmother Annie with chores around her house. Standing an imposing 6’ 11” (size 19 shoe size) Elliott was as gentle as a teddy bear, never seeming to display anger or malice toward anyone. Elliott always had that big smile on his face, which was amazing considering the extensive medical challenges he faced.
Elliott worked at various jobs, most recently with Fed-Ex in Oakland. However, Elliott’s true love was playing the drums at church and showing off his awesome video game skills to his friends. When he wasn’t playing video games, Elliott spent much of his time sharing with his numerous friends on face-book and other social media. Elliott dreamed of one day piloting an airplane.
Elliott committed his life to Jesus Christ at an early age and grew up in the Victory Outreach Church in Oakland. He and his new bride Deja were faithful church members. Ironically they both attended a bible study at the church just hours before the seizure that eventually ended Elliott’s life. Elliott’s favorite scripture was Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths”.
Elliott was preceded in death by his beloved children; daughter Faith, and unborn son Jordan. He leaves behind many who will cherish his memory; his wife Deja, his mother Janine Terry and stepfather Mark Terry, his grandmother Annie Marie Jones, his Aunt Marcia and Uncle Steve, Uncle Bob and Aunt Gwen; first cousins Jeremy (Lauren), Daniel, Myisha, Duane, Yvonne, Tony; a special friend Audrey Pierce, Pastor Larry and Sylvia Vigil, and numerous other cousins, relatives and friends. We will all miss you Elliott, rest in peace.
