Ellen Marie Chen's Obituary
On February 2, 2017, our world became a little darker when Ellen Marie Chen was called to the adoring arms of her savior at 97 years of age. Ellen is survived by her husband of 46 years Alexander Chen, her children Michael Chen (Shirley) and Gabrielle Chen Stein (David), her grandchildren Trevor Chen, Geoffrey Chen, Allison Chen Goodman (Jon) and Rachel Stein. She is also survived by her sister Irene Cheng, brother Alphonse Chan and their extended families. Additionally, and most importantly, there are literally hundreds of families world-wide that owe a monumental debt of gratitude to Ellen for her selfless work of rescuing and placing orphans into loving families, service for which she was honored and decorated by the Catholic Church and Catholic Relief Services. Her faithfulness, kindness, generosity and loving humor will be missed by all fortunate to have known her in this life. Donation to St. Leo’s Church or any Catholic charity of your choice.
