Madeline H. Vralsted
My Beloved Miss Egenhoff:You hired me, a very insecure and naive country girl from a Morgan Hill prune picking family in early 1950's as a junior secretary for the Division of Mines, then located on the 2nd floor of the Ferry Bldg. We, Mary Hill and I traveled to S. California twice/year with you to show and sell the publications which you wrote assisted by Mary Hill. You treated us like family members, you believed in me & made me believe in myself. I learned manners, kindness, patience, honesty, hard work, dedication, strength and loyalty which made me what I am today.Over the years you would write that you had made your annual(?) trip to visit Dr. Jenkins in Monterey and when I lost track of you I always hoped that I'd find you again.I've admired your quick smile, lovely short hair with that special wave, your feminine walk, so sure of yourself, and those beautiful hand knitted dresses that I believe your mom knitted for you.You and my beloved Armance from Belgium made your transition on the very same day and you were both born in July. I can't help but believe that the stength I feel comes from the both of you, 2 much beloved and important people in my life. I feel blessed to have had such brillent and kind people in my life. My thanks to your beloved Lee for calling to inform me of your passing. I remember how much you loved her and were so proud of her and her brother.Thank you for helping me grow into the woman I am today. You will be in my heart forever. Rest in peace, until we meet again. Maddy
