Edwin Theodore Lee's Obituary
Edwin Theodor Lee was born in San Francisco Chinatown on August 8, 1928 and passed away December 14, 2023 in San Ramon. He graduated from Galileo High School and immediately volunteered into the Army in September 1946, where he became a Rifleman and served in the 8th Calvary Regiment in Japan. He was decorated with the World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal Japan and honorably discharged in January 1948.
Edwin, Dad, then attended San Francisco City College graduating with an Associates degree and went to work for the United States Post Office for over 30 years. During that time he met, wooed and married Lillian Wong. Together they built a wonderful life and were devoted to each other until Lillian passed away in 2015. He was heartbroken till the day he passed.
Edwin’s military service to this country was recognized nationally. He participated in the National Congressional Gold Medal Wreath-Laying Ceremony specifically for Chinese American Veterans at the WWII Memorial in Washington DC on September 29, 2021.
He is survived by his son Alan R. Lee, daughter Cynthia Lee Baker and daughter Denise Lee, granddaughters Teri Baker, Amanda Baker, Emily Lum and grandson Jonathan Lum, great-granddaughters Sloane Radtke and Athena Lapinski.
A private memorial will be held in January.
