Edward Honehpan Lee's Obituary
Lee Hong Pan ( 李洪攀 ) ( Edward Lee ) was born on January, 16, 1929 in Pathein, Burma. He lived and celebrated a long life filled with hopes and happiness.
At age 13, he and his family survived the tragedies and sufferings that were brought on by the Japanese invasion of Burma, during World War II. His education was interrupted and put on hold for 5 years because of the war until it ended in 1946. By then at age 18, he re-entered the school at St. Paul Catholic and had to re-start his education from the beginning along with students who were 5 years younger. Through perseverance, hard work and determination, he passed all his examinations and entered the university in 1950. He was able to fulfill his family’s wish as the first member to attend college and graduated with B.S. degree in Civil Engineering in 1956.
He married Marian Ho on November 12th, 1958.
He came to the United States in 1971 and brought all of his families in the following years.
He died peacefully on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 11:27am, at the age of 92 in the presence of his family. He was a loving father of 6 and grandfather to 12 grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 – 1pm, Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home, 4499 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland, CA 94611. The burial will follow soon after at the Mountain View Cemetery.
