Edsil Vasquez Basa's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Edsil Vasquez Basa
July 16, 1974 - December 20, 2025
Edsil Vasquez Basa, born on July 16, 1974 in San Francisco, CA, was sent to his eternal home on December 20, 2025.
Edsil was a beloved husband, son and brother, but his greatest joy was as a proud father to his two children.
A devoted family man, he cherished every moment he spent with his wife and children. His first love was basketball; the game was his therapy, and the court was his sanctuary. He doted on his furbabies, his large frame enveloping his tiny pups and cats in long embraces after work. He sought to adopt older, less desirable animals at the shelter, telling his wife "at least we can give them a good life, whatever they have left." Karaoke was his favorite pastime, happily breaking into a song, mic on hand, on any given day. He was also a notorious prankster, known for playing elaborate jokes on his unsuspecting family members.
He was his mother's beautiful boy, with big brown eyes, a thunderous laugh and a wide smile, he captured her heart the moment he took his first breath. At his last, he leaves an incomprehensible void in the lives of those who loved him.
His presence will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his adoring wife, Beth; his children, Elialyn and Edsekiel; his parents, Silveria and Edilberto; numerous siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his adopted brother Nepson, his uncles Henry and Romeo, and his cousin Jennifer.
A celebration of Edsil's life will be held on January 10, 2026, at 2:45 p.m. at Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland. Public viewing will take place at 2 p.m. - 2:45 p.m., and 4 p.m. - 5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family humbly suggests donations be made directly to his grieving wife, Beth. To donate, please visit https://www.paypal.com/donate?hosted_button_id=MR86WV3D4PR74
