Earlene Ashford's Obituary
Earlene Ashford, a beloved matriarch and quiet soul, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2025, in Berkeley, California, at the age of 93.
Born in Anson, Texas, to Charles and Labirda Ashford, Earlene was one of eleven children in a large and loving family. Her early years were spent in Texas before the family relocated to New Mexico, where she experienced the beauty of the Southwest. Earlene often shared treasured stories with her grandson, Curtis Morras, about her journeys from Texas to New Mexico, and eventually to California—a place where she laid down roots and built her own family.
Earlene was a woman of quiet strength, often keeping to herself, which left an air of mystery surrounding her life. Yet, her presence was deeply felt by those who knew her. She embraced the vibrant and diverse culture of the Bay Area, finding joy in the community and spirit of the East Bay, where she resided for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her ten siblings, her lifelong spouse, and her son. Earlene’s closest surviving relative is her grandson, Curtis Morras, who now carries forward the cherished memories of his grandmother and the family she held dear.
Earlene Ashford’s life was a testament to resilience, quiet dignity, and the enduring bonds of family. Though she has departed this earth, her legacy lives on in the stories she shared, the love she gave, and the mystery that made her uniquely herself.
