LIFE REFLECTIONS
Dorothy E. Stewart, nicknamed “Dottie”, was born in 1923 in St. Louis, Missouri to Fred and Ella Ernest. At the age of 17, she travelled by train to start a new life in California. She met and married the love of her life, Eckie Stewart Jr. in 1944. From this union, four beautiful children were born.
Dorothy was employed as a nurse for 25 years at Herrick Hospital in Berkeley. She was recognized for her hard work and dedication to her patients. She later worked for the Oakland Tribune for over ten years. She retired for a second time to spend more time with her growing family.
Dorothy possessed many talents. She loved knitting and crocheting for her family. She enjoyed playing the piano and violin.
