Dorothy Parker's Obituary
Dorothy Parker loved to tell everyone that her birthday was on Christmas Day but she never wanted to share the year. She wanted everyone to think of her as young at heart. Dottie passed away peacefully Monday March 3, 2014 as her daughter was sleeping nearby.
Dottie was born in Ca. grew up in Martinez, attended Alhambra High. She was the first student in her class to drive a car to school. Classmates remembered that when she attended the 40th class reunion.
Dottie married George Parker who was in the Navy. She and a girlfriend drove cross country to follow his ship, the submarine USS S20. Later they built a home in Mill Valley that had a beautiful view of Mt. Tam which Dottie designed . Gay was born in 1946.
Dottie took an active part in the community collecting for various Charities and when Gay started school Dottie was a room mother every year 1st-6th grade.
In 1960 Dottie & Gay moved to Oakland in a great neighborhood where they have lived for 54 years. But shortly after moving Dottie was driving when a truck hit her car. She had to have surgery and that was the start of years of pain that mom tried to hide as much as possible. As time went by Dottie had to be careful but she and Gay traveled mostly to LA or Lake Tahoe for vacations seeing friends and having fun going other places and seeing shows. Those that know her can think about their special times with Dottie. Dottie was always ready to go visit friends and she loved going back to Mill Valley to see the changes. Usually going over all 3 bridges for a special ride. She also loved the neighborhood parties.
Hope after reading this you will find a Bell and ring it for mom and when you have a glass in your hand make a toast to her. Thank you for being our friend. Stay in touch please.
Gay
