Dora Betty Bibbs' Obituary
In Rankin Mississippi, on January 22nd, 1930; the proud parents Will and Lucy Bibbs were blessed by the birth of Dora Betty Bibbs; who was the last born of twelve children. Dora Betty, who was known to many as Momma Bibbs was a very loving and devoted mother, auntie, grandmother, and wife. She shared her life with Bill Blue for 25 years until his passing. 5 years ago, she started a relationship with Gary White. God blessed her with 7 children: Gracie Washington, Peter Hawkins, Mark Hawkins, Johnnie Mae Hawkins, Kenneth Caravan, Erma Gardener, Emmitt Gardener. Preceding Momma Bibbs in death was her father, mother, her eleven siblings, 2 daughters, 3 sons and 2 grandsons. Left to cherish her memories are her devoted daughter, devoted son, 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Momma Bibbs was a kind-hearted and strong-spoken woman. She would sit and talk with you for hours, always willing to listen to everyone’s problems and never bit her tongue about the real. She was a very open woman that showed love to everyone. Momma Bibbs was an incredible full-time mother, not only her children but to all the children of the neighborhood as well.
Everyone knew they could come to Momma for anything. She loved home-cooked meals and loved to feed everyone. She had no problem cooking you what you wanted. Momma Bibbs was a very grateful woman; nothing went unrecognized or unrewarded in her eyes. She lived a very fulfilled life; full of laughter, patience and care. This is how we know she fits in to heaven, making all of God’s angels smile.
