Donald L. Schmidt's Obituary
Donald Schmidt, 73, passed peacefully Saturday, February 11th at Walnut Creek Kaiser after a hard fought battle with cancer. He was a resident of Martinez. Don grew up in the Glenview District of Oakland and attended Oakland High School. Don’s career as a sales representative covered Northern California for the Victor Moulding Company in Oakland.
Don was very talented and creative! He was gifted with a great appreciation of art and framing, had great skill with design and building of home projects, and had beautiful style with the decor in his home and design of gardens. An avid golfer, he also loved fishing, fine cars, and was an impeccable dresser. He was Mr. GQ! Then there was his incredible sense of humor. The laughter never stopped…unless of course you chose to engage him about politics, then get ready for a battle.
Don is preceded in death by his father Roy Schmidt. He is survived by his daughter Jeanine Nunes and her husband Steven of Orland, CA, and son David and his wife Michele of Livermore. Don has three grandchildren, Conner 12, Madalyn 7, and Cameron 1. Don also leaves behind his mother Lorene, who is 99, brother Richard, sister Linda, and youngest brother Mark. His numerous friends, many going back to his childhood, have also been part of his life’s journey, and all are joined in love and sorrow by his passing. We will miss you Don. Keep your head down and save us a seat in Heaven.
A private gathering will be held for close friends and family.
