Dollie Marie Thompson's Obituary
Dollie Marie Thomspon was born in Arkansas on February 8th, 1936. She passed away at the age of 86 on February 5th, 2023 in Oakland, CA. Dollie attended Merrit College in Oakland where she received her Associate of Arts Degree. She married Sam Thompson Jr. on November 21, 1953.
Dollie had had an avid career as an entrepreneur in food service doing catering, dietary management, and was an owner of Marie’s Cuisine in Berkeley for many years. She was a member of The Dietary Managers Association that is now known as The Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals (ANFP). She was passionate about catering and entertaining friends and family. In addition, she loved to travel.
She was survived by her loving husband, Sam Thompson Jr. and her loving children: Shirley Maria Thompson, Patricia Ann Thompson, Glenn Allen Thompson and his wife Mary Ann Thompson, and Chandra Rena Thompson. Additionally, she was survived by her loving grandchildren: Diaunte Thompson, Erven Ray Blacksher Jr., Sabrina Richie, James Paul Madden, Asia Monet Thompson, Nalani Marie Thompson, Savannah Snell, Miles Snell, Giovanni DH Thompson. Her Loving great grandchildren: Nyz’aiah Thompson and Na’Kai Thompson as well as a host of well-loved nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Preceded in death was loving brothers and sisters: Nancy Mae Duncan and James Duncan. Her loving Mother and Father: Gertrude Duncan and Rev. Paul Lawrence Duncan Sr. Loving brothers and sisters: Paul Lawrence Duncan Jr., Minnie Jean Duncan, Willie Lee Duncan, Clifford Earl Duncan.
