"It takes a village to raise a child!"This was the key message of my 8th grade year at St. Louis Bertrand in 91 – 92! And a village of firm, strong and loving educators was exactly what I needed as I found myself at St. Louise Bertrand after being kicked out of another local Catholic School. I remember meeting my new Principle, Mrs. Adams and knew right away that see was not to be messed with. Even more so, I remember the genuine love that I felt from her…a love that flowed to all her students and the strong conviction she held that all kids where intelligent and could succeeded, if they tried when given a chance.Mrs. Adam created a place of refuge and safety for me and for countless number of youth in the city of Oakland. Her courage to face and tear down barriers to learning and obstacles that prevented the social and emotional development of youth will reap eternal rewards.I'm confident that she heard these words spoken over her as she stood before the Lord on that day, "Well done my good and faithful servant, well done." Rest In Peace Mrs. Adams and Thank you for everything. To her family and friends, thank you for sharing her with the world. You are in my prayers.Sincerely,Pastor Dawn HumphreySLB Class of 1992
