Dennis Gregory Lee's Obituary
Beloved husband, father and grandfather, Dennis Gregory Lee, D.D.S, died Monday morning February 6, 2012, peacefully at home, after a long illness. He was 81 years old. Dennis is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marisse, his son Michael, his daughter Veronique, and grandchildren Nicolas, Matthew, Alex, Gregory and Mason, and his sister Carol.Born on August 23, 1930 in Oakland to Dorothy Lowe and Dr. Fook Y. Lee, Dennis grew up in Oakland and was a resident of Piedmont for 60 years. He graduated from U.C .Berkeley and attended U.C. San Francisco Dental School where he graduated in dental surgery in 1954. He was drafted into the army in 1955 where he served as a dentist and captain at the 34th General Hospital in Orleans, France. It was there where he met his wife Marisse. They married one year after they met, in Los Angeles. Dennis practiced dentistry for 38 years. He had a practice in San Leandro where he was known by his patients as being a kind, concerned and devoted doctor who took pride in his meticulous work. He was a dentist who did everything from basic care to dental surgery and crowns and dentures in his own lab. He was well liked by his peers and was instrumental in starting the Dental Guild Retirement Fund in 1964. Dennis loved to travel, enjoyed reading, cooking, studying philosophy, and starting challenging conversations. Memorial services will be held at 11am on Saturday, February 25th at the Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Avenue in Oakland.
