It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Denise Marie Sorensen, a beloved wife, mother, and long standing member of the Albany community, who left us peacefully on August 30th, 2024 at the age of 66. Born in Berkeley on August 15 1958 to Robert and Barbara Wallace, Denise dedicated her life to her family, cooking, enjoyment of music, gardening and appreciating the beauty of nature.
For over 40 years, Denise called Albany home, where neighbors lived to admire her well cultivated garden. Denise’s love for nature was evident in her efforts to preserve it, participating in numerous park and beach clean-ups. Throughout much of her life she enjoyed traveling to connect with local histories and explore the wilderness.
A passionate music lover, Denise found solace in the rhythms of life through her guitar and listening to her favorite songs. Whether she was strumming in her living room, attending concerts, or singing along in the comfort of her own home, music was a constant source of joy and connection for her.
Denise is survived by her husband, Marc, her three children, Sonja, Derik and Lauren, and a host of friends and family who will forever cherish her memory. As we celebrate her life, we remember her spirit and her dedication to sharing love through her talents in the kitchen, her thoughtfulness, and her love.
Denise Sorensen will be deeply missed but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace, embraced by the beauty of nature she cherished so dearly
