I was very sorry to hear of the passing of Coach Campbell. He was a great coach who impacted the lives of many kids, including myself, during his career at Emery High. He used to say that the only thing we could not do is live forever, everything else we could try to do. I credit much of my success in life to his ability to make kids believe in themselves and to never quit. He will be missed.
To the Family, you have my deepest sympathy!! Mr Campbell was one of my favorite teachers. During my 10th grade year (88') he nicknamed me Biscuit because he said my cheeks looked like two buttermilk biscuits!! That has stuck with me all these years! He was my gym teacher and my Driver's Ed teacher. I will never forget having to meet him on the corner of 47th and San Pablo at 7am HIS time for our driving lesson. We all knew NOT to be late!! I have so many great memories of him at Emery High. I was so excited to see him at the Farewell Reunion in Oct. I wanted to go over and say hi to him and get his picture but he left before I could!! Thanks for everything you have taught me!! When I first came to Emery in the 9th grade,I used to think you were mean and just trying to give us a hard time!! I didn't get it then, but I get it now!! My deepest condolences to the family. Mr. Campbell was my favorite teacher in high school.I have alot of fond memories of thsoe days at Emery. He was very respected and dedicated to his work. He taught us life lessons and kept us heading in the right direction. I last saw Cam at the Emery High reunion in August 2012. He looked exactly as I remembered him 20+ years ago. Dear Family,I will always remember that Denis was the first person that I met when hired by the School District. Henceforth, a great friendship was developed. There are many things about the friendship that we shared with Denis and family that are memorable and will be remembered as well as treasured for eternity.The three that I remember best are; The times that we spent camping, the Christmas dinners and the cruises to the Bahamas.
