It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Debra Anne Jackson-Hill, who passed away peacefully on Sunday May 24, 2026, at the age of 74 in Oakland, California.
Debra Anne Jackson-Hill, born Debra Anne Henigan on December 19, 1951, at Herrick Memorial Hospital in Berkeley, California, was the beloved daughter of James T. Henigan of Arkansas and Eula Mae Henigan of Louisiana. The second of three children and the middle child, she was the first to be born in California.
Debra had a long career working in Oakland, first as a part-time dispatcher for the Oakland Police Department. Her career in the Parking Enforcement Division for The City of Oakland for a little over 25 years, handing out parking violations would allow her to have a presence in the community yet became familiar for the kindness she carried on every route. She would later become a supervisor, where her colleagues respected her as being fair and dependable. Many long-lasting friendships flourished from her tenor working within the City of Oakland.
Kindhearted, loving, smart, and talented, Debra made was a jack of many trades! She was a hair stylist, a tax preparer, she even worked a side job doing janitorial work and was a floor assistant at Macy’s for the Christmas holidays. As a hobby, she took photography classes, buying a camera and learning how to get that perfect shot. One of her favorite hobbies was finding free things on Craigs List!
The love that she poured into her family showed in every holiday gathering, planned annual camping trip, or just being supportive of every event she attended. The matriarch of the family to her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, will greatly be missed by all whom loved her dearly.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered support, prayers, and condolences during this difficult time.
