David Wayne Walker's Obituary
David Wayne Walker, born September 22, 1952 in Toppenish, Washington. Passed away on February 24, 2016 in Concord, California. David was lovingly married to Yanny Tang Walker, and shared many great years together.
David loved science from an early age and never stopped learning. He graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle with a degree in Microbiology in 1976. David worked at J. David Gladstone Institute in San Francisco. He enjoyed his work in research helping to make progress in finding causes. He started his work in 1984 and continued until he passed away.
He enjoyed many activities! Some of his favorites were; ping pong, cards, and board games from all over the world. He was a highly skilled musician and was able to learn any instrument with ease. The instruments David played were; piano, drums, electric guitar, hammer dulcimer, and accordion. Yanny and David were world travelers, and enjoyed many vacations together. Their favorite spot being the tropical state of Hawaii.
David was the most generous man and was kind-hearted to everyone that he came across. He had the best sense of humor. David loved his family and friends so much and loved living in the San Francisco Area.
David is survived by his wife, Yanny Tang Walker. Stepson, Sammy Lo, and daughter in law, Amber Lo and their children Elise, Jolene and Cadence. Father, Wayne W. Walker and Mother, Leah R. Walker. Brother, Tim Walker, brother in law Brad Moyer. Sisters, Patricia Walker, and Cindy Nichols, brother in law Nick Nichols. Nephews and Nieces; Jenny Zagelow, Geoff Goodwill, Luke Zagelow, Adam Walker, Danielle Goodwill, Tasha Maine, Chanel Finnie, Lydia Zagelow and Rylee Goodwill. Also survived by; Xia Ying Xiao, Chun Yan Deng, Carrie Lo, Danny Yiu, Elizabeth Yiu, Cui Lian Deng, Rachel Zheng, Joe Li, Ai Ling Deng, Teresa Ye, Timothy Kwong.
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, March 3rd, 2016, from 4pm-8pm, at Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland, CA 94611. Funeral is scheduled for Friday, March 4th, 2016, from 1pm-2pm, at Chapel of the Chimes. Burial is scheduled for Friday, March 4th, 2016 at 2”30pm, at Mountain View Cemetery, 5000 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland, CA 94611.
