Dr. David C Tower passed away peacefully in his sleep on New Year’s Day at his longtime home in Berkeley. David had achieved the remarkable age of 90, having been born in 1923 in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. David was a direct descendant of John and Margaret Tower who immigrated from Hingham England in 1640. David served his country as a Flight Surgeon in the United States Air force, having graduated from medical school at the University of Colorado, School of Medicine at the young age of 23. David performed his residency in Psychiatry at the Palo Alto VA Hospital where he met his wife Sylvia. David and Sylvia opened The Berkeley Psychotherapy Clinic in 1960. He continued to successfully practice Psychiatry into his 80s, where helped many. David was kind…gentle in demeanor with a strong love of animals and a passion for fast cars, motorbikes, the martial arts, firearms, action movies, diving and snow skiing. David is survived by his wife Sylvia, his sister Jane; 6 children…Larry, Marjorie, Carol, Keith, Jonathan and Christopher; 6 grandchildren…Jacqueline, Tyler, Jenna, Ryan, Michael and Jessica; and, 3 great grandchildren…Christopher, Jillian and Miranda. David’s family will celebrate his life in February on what would be his 91st birthday. We will laugh…we will cry…and we will rejoice in David and the fabulous life he had. Those wishing to make a donation in his memory should direct them to the Berkeley Humane Society.
