David Iino's Obituary
David T. Iino was born in Oakland, California on July 24, 1925 to Shinichi and Taka Iino and passed peacefully on Monday, February 24, 2020 at the age of 94. Predeceased by his wife of 37 years, Chiyoko Mary Iino, and his second wife, May Iino. Loving father of Cynthia (married to Wayne Nakayama) and Laura (married to Brian Kataoka). Proud grandfather of Ryo (Kataoka).
David will be fondly remembered by family and friends for his kindness and his love of music. He sang throughout his youth and later sang with his church choir. He continued his singing during many years of retirement as a member of the Oakland Symphony Chorus and the Chorale May Japanese Men’s Chorus in San Francisco.
A celebration of David’s life will be held at the Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland on a later date to be announced. Donations in memory of David Iino may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Northern California and Northern Nevada Chapter, 2290 North 1st Street #101, San Jose 95131, or to Extending Connections, c/o Buena Vista Methodist Church, 2311 Buena Vista Avenue, Alameda 94501.
