Daniel Andrade Moreno's Obituary
Daniel Andrade Moreno
Daniel Andrade Moreno, 85, a proud Oakland native, passed away peacefully on February 4th 2026. Born on February 7th, 1940, at Providence Hospital in Oakland California to Pedro and Lucille “Lucy” Moreno. He was the second of six children: Catherine, “Danny”, Elvera, Peter Jr, Esther and Micheal.
Dan’s life was a testament to his lasting love, devotion to his family, hard work, and humor. This gentle giant was courageous before obstacles, always ready to explore the outdoors, and had an ingenious mind to solve problems. He was generous with his time and kind to all.
No stranger to hard work, Dan had many tough jobs and was a proud union member. Beyond his work, he cherished his role as a devoted husband to his wife of over 50 years, Mary. Together they shared a deep faith and a hunger for the word of God. He valued being a father to Leah, Pedro, Jacob and Daniel Jr.
Dan enjoyed nature hikes, discovering new places via long drives, laughter and artistic expression whenever possible. He shared his passion for creativity with his children and supported their own artistic voices.
Cherished by all who knew him, Dan’s quiet strength and steady presence will be deeply missed and will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
All are invited to a funeral service at Chapel of the Chimes, Oakland, and burial at Mountain View Cemetery, 5000 Piedmont Ave. Oakland CA 94611. Flowers appreciated, alternatively please consider a donation to an Oakland nonprofit supporting youth, cancer research, or animals (all close to his heart).
