Daniel Montz's Obituary
Daniel Montz, a beloved partner, father, brother, uncle, friend and neighbor, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, in Oakland, California. He was 69 years old.
Born on November 12, 1955, in Willows, California, to Beverly Ceccon, Jack Montz, and his stepfather, Herman Ceccon, Daniel grew up in Willows before attending UC Berkeley. For 35 years, he was a dedicated Executive Assistant at Wells Fargo, where he was known as the "go-to" person for his extensive knowledge, take-charge attitude and his wicked sense of humor.
Daniel met his life partner, Aubrey Goo, on January 1, 1982. Together for 43 years, they made their home in San Francisco for over 16 years and Oakland for 27 years in Oakland. They shared a passion for travel, exploring cities across Great Britain, France, Italy, Prague, Budapest, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Japan, Hawaii, Mexico, Guatemala, and El Salvador. In 1998, Daniel traveled to Tra Vinh Province, Vietnam, to bring home their infant son, Ty—a moment that defined his greatest joy. From that day forward, Ty was their greatest blessing, completing their family and enriching their lives.
Outside of work, Daniel found joy in gardening, reading the newspaper, The Daily Mail every morning, and watching hysterically his TikTok videos. He enjoyed a large glass of Chardonnay and enjoyed spending time with his partner, son and family. He had a special love for his dog, Lilly, who he adored.
Daniel is survived by his life partner, Aubrey Goo; his son, Ty Khoa Goo-Montz; and his siblings; Jayne Montz, Nancy Watson, Patricia Towne, Wayne Montz, Janet Niehues, Cindy Enos, and Lisa Teeter. He will be remembered as a generous and caring partner and a devoted father who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of Daniel’s life will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider sharing a favorite memory or picture with Daniel on his online memorial page with Chapel of the Chimes, Oakland.
