Daniel C. Kan's Obituary
Daniel passed away peacefully at the early age of 67 on the morning of September 16th at his home in Oakland. Daniel was the beloved Husband of Karen Kan, devoted Father of Marilyn (Daryl Chan) Alvin (Denise), and Herbert (Joyce) and the cherished Grandfather of Makenzie, Tyler, Isabelle and Ryan Kan. Daniel was born in Guangdong, China, the 5th out of eight siblings to Chung Wai and Yuk Hing Kan. In 1965, he married Karen then came to the United States in 1966 and set down roots in Oakland. A year later, Karen followed him to the states. He worked numerous positions in the food service industry and later owned, for 20 years, the restaurant and bar 'Produce Inn.' In his retirement, he enjoyed doing tai-chi and serving the Chinatown communities of Oakland and San Francisco as President of the Jack Sen and Ying On Benevolent Associations; and his home village Guangdong Zhongshan Association. He touched many lives and will live in our hearts forever. Daniel's family invites all friends and family members to the Chapel of the Chimes on 4499 Piedmont Ave in Oakland, for his Wake on Tuesday, September 29th between the hours of 6pm to 8pm and Funeral Service on Wednesday, September 30th at 9:00am.
