Daisy Chan's Obituary
Daisy Lee Chan, Beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Friend
Lifelong Resident of Oakland, California.
Daisy Lee was born May 18, 1932 in Oakland, California and died Sept 10, 2021. Daisy was born into a family of seven and was the youngest of five siblings. She attended Lincoln Elementary, Roosevelt Jr. High, and graduated from Oakland High School in 1951. Her youth was spent as a member of the Chinese Episcopal Church where she attended Chinese School, and was also a part of the church’s choir, and Girls Club, alongside her lifelong best friend, Delores. During high school, Daisy enjoyed shopping, making clothes, and babysitting her nieces and nephews.
She married her husband of 61 years, Kin Chan in 1949. She worked tirelessly raising their six children; Robert, Brian, Karen, Martin, Susan, and Andrea, and partnering her husband’s business. Daisy was also instrumental in the raising of her grandchildren. She was an endless cook, and also learned to and enjoyed fixing and repairing her home and appliances. Daisy always managed to get all of that done in a 24 hour day.
Daisy devoted her life to her loved ones. The love and warmth that she emitted could always be felt by all. Daisy is survived by her six children; Robert, Brian, Karen, Martin, Susan, and Andrea, daughter-in-laws Rose and Mary, son-in-laws Sam and Harley and seven grandchildren, Theresa, Andrew, Ryan, Renae, Bradley, Sterling and Tyler. Her pride, joy, and legacy was being the best mother, grandmother, and friend anyone could have ever asked for.
Viewing will be held at Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Ave, Oakland, on Monday Sept 27th from 5 to 6pm.
Services will be held the following day, at the same location, Sept 28th from 11am-1pm.
