Curtis Woodrow Chin, age 69, passed away in his San Diego, California home on December 6, 2018. He was born in Oakland, California on August 7, 1949, to the late Joseph Gin Hong Chin and the late Dorothy Tun Sew Gee Chin. He graduated from Oakland High School in 1967, and later earned his associates degree from Merritt Junior College in 1970. He began his 47-year civil service career in 1971 as an Electronic Mechanic for the Department of the Navy at the Naval Air Station Alameda that continued with his transfer in 1996 to the Naval Base Coronado in San Diego, California. He enjoyed watching movies, watching sporting events, playing Dungeons and Dragons, fishing for black bass, building model planes and ships from WWI and WWII, and a good meal.
Curtis is survived by his sisters, Elinor A. Chin and Lorraine D. Chin-Vant Hof, and his brother, Wallace G. Chin. He was a beloved brother, beloved brother-in-law to Gary Vant Hof and Evelyn M. Chin and beloved uncle to Brandon M. Chin, Garrett J. Chin and Trevor M. Chin. He is further survived by our lasting memories of him. He will be missed as a brother, brother-in-law, nephew, cousin, uncle and friend.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.at the Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland, CA 94611.
