Curlee K.C. Chiu of Piedmont, California, peacefully passed away on Sunday August 3, 2008, at the age of 85. Beloved father of Carl Han Chiu and Thana J. Chiu. Loving Husband of Mei Wu Chen. Beloved brother of Tracy, Cecilia, Peter, and George. Son of Pao Man Chiu and Yeung Shiu.Curlee was born in Yokohama Japan, on June 2nd, 1923. He moved to Shanghai as a child and graduated from St. John's University in Shanghai. After the World War II, Curlee became a British National of Hong Kong where he lived for over a decade. Curlee arrived in San Francisco in 1967 and eventually resided in Piedmont California for 35 years which he fondly called his home. Curlee was a man of constant renewal and strength, and was a loyal friend to many people through his journey in life.Curlee retired as a State Farm Agent in Oakland with 27 years of service. He enjoyed to travel, listen to classical music, was a serious student of Chinese history, and reading of Christian scripture. Curlee enjoyed being a volunteer at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, and being a part of the St. John's of Shanghai Alumni Association. Curlee is well known for his hard work and commitment to others, as well as a man of endearing generosity. He is well loved, admired, and will be very missed by many.Services for friends and family may visit Friday, August 8 at The Chapel of the Chimes, for open Vigil services at 10:00 AM, and Funeral services promptly at 1:00 PM.
