Cozie Armstrong's Obituary
Cozie Lee Armstrong was born on March 16,1932 to Annie Cooper and Ernest Young in Ruston, Louisiana. She passed on January 20, 2025, and eternally joined her husband, Benjamin Harrison Armstrong. Cozie and Ben raised their beautiful family in Berkeley, California where she resided for over seventy years. Cozie and Ben loved to travel and were always on the go between Los Angeles, Texas, Louisiana, or other adventures. They are now forever joined.
Cozie is survived by her children: Algean Hobdy, Jaqueline Hobdy, Lorna Perry (Joel Perry), Craig Armstrong, Roger Armstrong (Deanna J. Santana), and Duane Armstrong. She is also survived by her grandchildren Marisa Perry, Amanda Armstrong, Malek Armstrong, Joel Perry II, Zahria Armstrong, Evan Armstrong, Monica Hobdy, and Keiyon McDonald.
Cozie loved her family and always found joy in cooking and hosting Sunday dinners, holidays, and family celebrations where she shared her humor, family stories, and baked goods. She loved to shop and had a strong sense of style. She also was an avid Warriors basketball fan. However, Cozie was most proud of her grandchildren and supportive of them pursuing their dreams and accomplishments.
Cozie was a woman of strong Christian faith and lived her life accordingly. For over 50 years, Cozie was active at Bethany Baptist Church by teaching Sunday school, passing out meals, and singing in the choir. She is best characterized as a loving wife, mother, Granny, and citizen that was always willing to lend a helping hand and make this world better.
She is so incredibly loved, and we miss her dearly.
