Consuelo C. Torio's Obituary
Consuelo Calicdan Torio died peacefully with her family by her side on December 18, 2013 in Oakland, California at the age of ninety-six. She was the loving mother of her son, Robert and her daughter-in-law, Darlene, and her daughter, Elizabeth Torio, and daughter-in-law, Kathleen Torio. She was the loving grandmother of her grandchildren, Paul and Rosie Torio and Gina Grant. She was the loving great-grandmother of Elijah, Jaydon, Maliah, and Anaya Grant and Miles Torio.
She was born on February 9, 1917 in Urbiztondo, Pangasinan, Philippines, daughter of Ponciano and Mercedes Calicdan. She was a graduate of Maryknoll College of Nursing in the Philippines. She was a registered nurse for forty years. She served as a nurse during World War II and worked at Kaiser Permanente Oakland Hospital for over twenty years in the orthopedic ward.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Her passions were singing in Spanish, English, and Tagalog and traveling and cruising around the world.
Friends are invited to visit at the Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland, CA on Sunday, December 29, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The rosary will begin at 6:00 p.m. The funeral services will be at All Saints Church, 22824 Second Street, Hayward, CA on Monday, December 30, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. The burial services will at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 4529 Howe Street, Oakland, CA.
