Clarence Shanks' Obituary
Clarence Shanks passed away peacefully on July 12, 2016. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, he resided in Oakland, CA. Beloved husband of Elise Shanks; Loving father of Daryl Shanks, Karyn Shanks, Ralph Shanks & Cheryl Anne Davis; Loving stepfather of Regina McSwain & Kurt Robinson; Beloved grandfather of ten; Great-Grandfather of two; Loving brother of Ralph Shanks, Lorraine Bowles, Carolyn Newsome & Gloria Davis.
Mr. Shanks worked for many years for the Oakland Public Schools. He was a member of the New Revelation Community Church,1727 M.L.K. Jr Way, Oakland, CA 94612. In his retirement, he really enjoyed playing golf & traveling. He used to say fondly, “I am not the best golf player, but I love playing the game!”
He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
Clarence’s Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at 1:00 pm in the Chimes Chapel at Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland, CA 94611.
