Clarence R. Jackson's Obituary
Dr Clarence R. Jackson, PhD, MFC
Passed away on August 7, 2013 at home surrounded by family.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Nancy, his son Robert, daughters Kirsten and Lorri and four adopted daughters, Julie, Patti, Marlissa and Andrea; son-in-law Scott, grandchildren Lauren, Deagon and Scottie;
Also sister Beola Clark, 3 brother-in-laws, 2 sister-in-laws, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many loving extended family members.
Clarence was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 10, 1931 to Clarence W. Jackson and Anna Sheats Jackson. He graduated from DuSable High School and attended Chicago Teachers College for his BEd, Chicago State University for his MS in Counseling Psychology and University of Pittsburgh for his PhD in Counseling Education/Psychology.
His jobs included teaching and counseling in Chicago and Oakland schools He held administrative positions in Berkeley and Oakland school districts. He was an educational consultant for the State of California, Dept. of Education. He also had a private therapy practice throughout his years in Berkeley and Oakland.
Most of all, Clarence was a loving family man, a committed educator and therapist and has influenced many people for the better.
There will be a viewing at Chapel of the Chimes, 51st and Piedmont in Oakland on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 from 5 to 8 PM.
Services will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at 1 PM at the Chapel of the Chimes.
Please, no flowers.
Donations in Clarence’s memory given to the family will be shared among Beats Rhymes & Life in Oakland, the Southwest Indian Education Fund and Kaiser’s Oakland Hospice.
