Christine Diskon's Obituary
Christine Bunyan Diskon, 76, of Oakland, CA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 29th, surrounded by friends, caregivers and family. She was born in Hollywood, California on September 1st, 1942 to Elizabeth O. Bunyan and George H. Bunyan. Christine was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Madison. There she was active in her sorority (Chi Omega) and received a degree in art history. Christine had a passion for gardening…going so far as to get her Master Gardener certification. She worked for many years at Jones the Florist, first as Vice President and later as a Wedding Planner. Christine was an active member of the Junior League and volunteered for Cincinnati Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired. Christine was preceded in death by her second husband, John J. Diskon. She is survived by her daughter, Camilla Whitman (Tony Uphaus), from her first marriage to Robert Whitman. She also leaves behind her brother, John Bunyan (Vicki), sister, Barbara Williams, plus two nephews and a niece. At her request no service will be held. However, a celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, January 20th from 1pm-3pm at Highlands Country Club, 110 Hiller Drive, Oakland, CA 94618.
