Charles Luey's Obituary
Charles “Charlie” Luey, 86 passed away Friday, February 3, 2017. Charlie was born June 5, 1930 to the late Clarence and Wong Shee Luey in San Francisco, CA. He lived most of his life in Oakland, CA with his late wife, Carole H. Luey.
Charlie served in the Army during the Korean War and had a long career at the Naval Air Station, Alameda where he worked as a Planner and Estimator. He also worked at the Oakland Coliseum as a ticket taker for over four decades. Charlie’s hobbies were watching his grandsons play football, bowling, mah-jongg and meeting his friends for lunch.
Charlie is survived by his brother Tom Luey, sister-in-law Rose Luey; children Karen Siu (daughter), Greg (son) and Dorene Luey, and Daryl (son) and Maxine Luey; grandchildren Michael Hoxsie, Marc Luey, Matthew Luey, Taylor Siu, Dylan Siu, Christopher Luey and Chiara Luey; and numerous nieces and nephews. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Betty Quan and Faye Wong.
Visitation services will be on February 16, 2017 from 4:00-8:00, and funeral services will be held at 10:00am on February 17, 2017 at Chapel of the Chimes 4499 Piedmont Avenue Oakland, CA. Luncheon will be immediately after the service at the Buffet Fortuna 800 Broadway St. Oakland, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Veterans Administration.
