Mrs. Charlene Draper's Obituary
Charlene Turner Draper was born to the late Charlie and Annie Lee Turner in Mineral Springs, Arkansas on February 9, 1938. Affectionately known as ”Tot”, at an early age, she gave herself to God and was dedicated to him until the end. In 1956 she married James Ellis Draper. During this union, Charlene and James had eight children. In 1960 James and Charlene migrated to Plainsburg, California, and then in 1962, they moved their family to Marysville, CA where they settled for 16 years. While in Marysville, Charlene was an active member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Olivehurst, CA, where she served on the Usher Board and the Women’s Missionary.
In 1976, Charlene and James moved their family to Oakland, CA , where she began working at The Treasury Department Store, then moved on to JCPenny until her retirement in 2005 as a Department Manager.
In 1977, Charlene joined Prince of Peace Missionary Baptist Church in Oakland, CA. Charlene was dedicated to her church and she did what was asked of her with a loving smile and joy in her heart. Tot wore many hats at
Prince of Peace which included Church Announcer, Women’s Missionary, Church Choir, and also became “Mother of the Church”.
