Celena Evelyn Davis' Obituary
Our beloved Celena Davis earned her wings and peacefully transitioned on August 29, 2014 in Sacramento, CA at the age of 88, with her family by her side. Celena Evelyn Marshall the oldest daughter of William Marshall and Edna King was born on May 27, 1926 in New Orleans, LA. She accepted Christ at an early age at Oakland Baptist Church in Kenner, LA.
As a young lady Celena moved from Louisiana and relocated to Chicago, IL where she met and married Willie Davis. From this union they had three children Ramona, Willie Jr. and Linda. After the untimely death of her husband Willie Sr., Celena with her three young children moved to Oakland, CA.
After moving to Oakland, Celena worked at many different jobs in order to support her family. She eventually was employed and worked for 37 years as a postal clerk at the Main Post Office in West Oakland until her retirement. After retirement and due to failing health Celena relocated to Sacramento, CA where she lived until her death.
Mama you always loved us with an endless, enduring love that will last beyond life-times, and will be kept alive in our family traditions as we move forward continuing to build our families and the legacies they will leave.
Mama you are no longer in pain, but ever so peacefully resting with angels. Your journey on this earth is over and you are now in Heaven with our ancestors and family members that have passed on before you. Embrace the Lord and all the great things that you are encountering in his Grace. We love you so much; you will be dearly missed and will never be forgotten. We know that you are in Heaven with the Lord.
Celena was preceded in death by her parents; husband Willie Sr.; son Willie Jr.; brothers Lloyd Marshall and Leroy Marshall; sisters Dorothy Arceneaux, and Avon Hall.
