Catherine Ollie Casey's Obituary
Catherine Ollie Casey, 96, of Berkeley, CA, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025 at her assisted living home.
Catherine was born on August 23, 1929 to Ernest Moore and Almeda Carroll Moore in Hickory, Mississippi. She was the youngest of four sisters.
Like her sisters, Catherine moved to California. She attended Vallejo Junior College. In September 1957, she married Paul C. Casey. Together they had two sons. After having children, Catherine chose to quit work to be a home maker.
Catherine was a devoted wife and caring mother. Though home life was often complex, she did the best she could to make sure she raised upright children. She was frequently praised by her husband for handling the family finances and finding ways to keep the bills paid when cash ran short. She was also an avid gardener and got great pleasure from growing vegetables. Catherine attended church regularly for most of her life, but switched to TV ministry programs when her mobility became an issue.
Catherine enjoyed her periodic after church visits to see her mother and sister Aline in Berkeley, and her sisters Lucy and Maime in Vallejo. She enjoyed her occasional bus trips with various family members to Reno to play the slot machines. She also enjoyed watching pro football and basketball on TV. Additionally, she enjoyed reading the newspaper, cookbooks, and the Bible.
Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Casey, parents, and her older sisters Lucy Chatman, Aline Needham, and Maime Everett. She will be greatly missed, beyond words, by her son Jerome M. Casey; daughter-in-law, Natasha Parsonage; son, David A. Casey; grandchildren, Alexandra Casey and Nathaniel Casey, niece Kathy Everett-Carbin; nephews Henry Needham, Jr., Ernest Everett; and her grandniece and nephews.
